ONLF says it has attacked gov’t officials

On an attack launched against the delegation of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia Demeke Mekonnen, nine regional leaders, domestic and foreign investors, who were visiting Ogaden Region last week, the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) said it has killed several Ethiopian troops at the airport and destroyed two vehicles.

Hassan Abdualhi, Spokesperson of the Front, said to ESAT that the attack was launched as soon as delegates landed in Kebridahar town Airport last week.

“We were already informed that the officials were coming to the Region so we were already prepared to execute the attacks” Hassan said.

The Ethiopian government has not commented on the reports so far.

It is to be recalled that artists and journalists had been sent to the Ogaden region to visit the “peace and developmental activities” there.
