The “Let our voices be heard” protests that had been stopped for a while are set to be held nationwide once again when Ethiopian Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha on Tuesday October 15, 2013. The tentative programs of the protest show that the protesters plan to loudly protest the speeches of the Majlis leaders.
If government or Majlis officials are going to speak during the celebration in Addis Abeba, there will be continuous protest until they break off their speeches.
Federal police also announced that it has made all the necessary preparations to “protect peace and security”.
Meanwhile, government officials have been passing best wishes and holiday messages from Mosques in Woldia, Dessie, North Central Ethiopia. Worshipers said that this was the first time in Ethiopian history that the microphones of Mosques, often used for prayer and making calls, were used for such messages.
