Forty people that were detained in relation to a protest in Kucha Woreda, SouthernEthiopia, few months ago have been released. Masebo Madalcho, whom policesuspect as the organiser of the protests, has not been released, however.
ESAT has been reporting that police had refused to release the prisoners disregarding a court order for their immediate release.
The prisoners have been released yesterday and have now joined their families.
The residents of Kucha woreda have raised questions of ‘identity’ that led to continuous protests and disputes with the government.
