UDJ’s Demo promotion faces problems; Officials, MP seized

The opposition Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ) party, which is set to hold its biggest opposition demonstration in Addis Abeba on Sunday September 29, 2013 has said it has faced so many problems while doing the promotion of its upcoming march in Addis Abeba.

The Chairman of the Party, Dr. Negaso Gidada and Girma Seifu, the sole opposition MP and member of UDJ have been detained by police for six hours yesterday for promoting the City Administration recognised rally.
Daniel Tefera, Public Relations Head of the Party said although the Administration officially recognised the protest, police has been interfering ordering them to bring a “permit from the pertinent bodies”.
He said such a phenomenon never had happened when they were given permission and were later asked to bring another permit.
UDJ will not stop its promotion work due to police’s intimidation.
